Children attending our After School Kids Program will experience holistic growth (spiritual, emotional and social) that will result in a recognition of who they are in Christ and will enhance The Salvation Army's programming.
The Salvation Army Santa Clara Citadel's After School Kids (ASK) Program is focused on children in grades 1 through 8.
Monday through Friday – 2:30PM to 6:00PM
Wednesday – 12:30PM to 6:00PM

Children will be able to rotate through different rooms/stations while at the ASK Program. Various rooms and activities will available to them. Some of these activities include:
A nutritional snack is provided for your child each day. Snacks are prepared by our staff in our kitchen on site. Snack is served at 3:00PM daily. Children are welcome to bring their own snack or snacks to share as well.
Children must complete their homework before moving on to other activities. Parents may sign off saying that their children do not need to complete their homework in its entirety while at the ASK Program.
The ASK Program takes occasional educational and fun trips on Fridays. Handouts will be sent home in advance to let you know what is going on. Field trip costs are not included in the registration and monthly fees. Transportation will be provided by The Salvation Army.
We also walk to Central Park and Santa Clara City Library.
Our Youth Music Programs will begin in the fall and run through the school year. Each child has the opportunity to participate on Sunday afternoons from 12:30PM to 2:45PM. Children have the chance to be a part of music classes, singing, Devotion in Motion. Classes that make up the Youth Music Program come together at the end of each quarter to create a program that will perform on a Sunday morning where families are encouraged to attend to watch their children perform. (Lunch is provided during this program.)
Examples of classes offered: (Classes are subject to change.)
Devotion in Motion: Children learn routines using dance, sign language, ribbons and timbrels.
Media: Children document the happenings of the Wednesday Night Program classes and create a media presentation to show at quarterly Family Nights.
Singing Company: Children learn to sing various Christian children’s songs.
Set design: Children help to create backdrops and props used in the Family Night productions.
Junior Praise & Worship: Older children who can sing or play instruments come together to form a worship team to lead the congregation in songs.
Corps Cadets will begin in the fall and run through the school year. Corps Cadets is for teens who are in at least the 7th grade or 13 years old and will meet on Thursdays at 4:00PM. Corps Cadets must also be enrolled as a junior or senior soldier in The Salvation Army. A Corps Cadet is a young Salvationist who undertakes a course of Bible study and leadership training at his/her own corps in order to grow spiritually and become better equipped for effective service in The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army’s Troop Program will begin in the fall and run through the school year. Children of all ages have the opportunity to participate on Friday afternoons from 4:00PM to 5:00PM. Children will learn lessons based on different subjects, complete some bookwork and participate in various activities and projects pertaining to the lesson. Once all activities are completed, each child will earn an emblem for the lesson.
